January 22nd

day after surgery

Short Story:
a few months ago my dad came down with a sines infection. He was put on many antibiotics but, it never went away. Well, the Dr. decided to preform a cat scan to see what was up. Well, it turned out that the infection ate away some of his sines bone and the infection spread to his brain. The infection killed his left frontal lobe. By some miracle his body compensated for the loss and switched over to his right side. The Dr. informed us that if surgery did not take place to remove the infection and replace the barrier form his sines cavity to his brain he would die. They also informed us that by the looks of the cat scan they would be removing 80% of his frontal lobe. There was a risk of him losing his sight, ability to speak, and maybe even think. The surgery went great! The Dr. did not have to remove 80% of the lobe, he just took a little of the dead parts. About 20 mins after the surgery my dad woke up and was talking. He is not out of the woods just yet but, he is making great progress. He was able to come home Thursday after not even a full week after the surgery. I know there is much more to this story but, I kinda haven't come to terms with everything yet. I' am just glad that he is home.
